    Neon has officially dropped the first trailer for writer-director James Gray’s upcoming period crime drama, Paper Tiger. The film stars Adam Driver, Miles Teller, and Scarlett Johansson following its premiere in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.Set in 1986 Queens, New York, the plot follows two brothers: Gary (Driver), an ex-cop, and Isaac (Teller), an engineer. When Gary entangles the pair in a scheme involving the local Russian mafia, the resulting fallout threatens their family safety and their pursuit of the American Dream. Johansson stars alongside the duo as Isaac’s wife, who faces her own personal turmoil as the conflict escalates.Gray revealed that the narrative draws inspiration from his own family’s real-life encounters with the Russian mafia in 1980s New York. Acquired by Neon ahead of its debut, the film received a 10-minute standing ovation at Cannes after joining the 2026 competition lineup as a late addition.Paper Tiger will open the New York Film Festival in late September 2026 before launching its limited theatrical release on November 13, 2026.
