A man has stirred fresh political debate after claiming that the chairman of Agege Local Government has outperformed Alex Otti in terms of infrastructure development and road construction.

The statement, which surfaced on social media on Tuesday, has generated mixed reactions among users, with many comparing governance performance at local and state levels.

While some supported the claim, others argued that such comparisons overlook differences in administrative scope and available resources.

    Comparison raises eyebrows

In his remarks, the man praised the perceived progress in Agege, noting visible improvements in roads and community projects under the current local leadership.

Agege local government chairman has outperformed the Governor of Abia, Alex Otti, in terms of development and road construction. He has done far better than Alex Otti as a governor,” he said.

    Mixed reactions trail claim

The statement quickly drew criticism and support online, with some questioning the basis for comparing a local council authority to a state government.

Observers noted that Alex Otti, who assumed office in 2023, has initiated several infrastructure projects across Abia State, including road rehabilitation efforts aimed at boosting economic activities.

Meanwhile, local government administrations like Agege have also been recognised for grassroots development initiatives in Lagos State.

Similar comparisons have emerged in recent years, particularly following the 2023 general elections, as citizens increasingly scrutinise elected officials’ performance across all levels of government.
