Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended their UEFA Champions League title on Saturday night, defeating Arsenal on penalties following a thrilling 1-1 draw in the final at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest.

After 120 minutes of play failed to separate the two sides, the French giants held their nerve from the penalty spot, securing back-to-back Champions League victories and maintaining their place among Europe’s finest teams.

The much-anticipated final lived up to expectations, with both clubs battling furiously throughout regulation and extra time, with neither side able to find a definitive winner after the match finished 1-1.

With the game heading to a penalty shootout, PSG showed superior control, converting their spot kicks to deny Arsenal their first Champions League title and retain the historic trophy.

The victory is another remarkable achievement for the Paris-based club, which has become one of the few teams in recent years to successfully defend its European title.

Arsenal’s stunning Champions League campaign comes to an end in sadness, with Mikel Arteta’s team going close to European success but falling short at the final hurdle.
