    Chelsea fail to respond

Chelsea offered little attacking threat, registering minimal attempts in the first half as frustration grew among travelling supporters.

Brighton doubled their lead in the 56th minute when Jack Hinshelwood finished from Rutter’s assist, capping sustained pressure.

Despite late efforts from substitutes, Chelsea failed to mount a meaningful comeback.

    Welbeck seals comprehensive win

The victory was confirmed late on when Danny Welbeck scored Brighton’s third, finishing from Maxim De Cuyper’s delivery.

Brighton could have extended their advantage further, underlining their superiority throughout the contest.

    Pressure mounts on Chelsea

The defeat leaves Chelsea in a difficult position in the table, with their hopes of Champions League qualification fading rapidly.

In contrast, Brighton’s consistent form continues to drive their push for European football.
