Chelsea have been dealt a double injury blow ahead of their league clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, with Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro both ruled out.

The absence of the duo removes two of Chelsea’s primary attacking options at a critical stage of the season.

Palmer ruled out with hamstring issue

Palmer misses the fixture due to a minor hamstring problem, having been expected to start if fit.

Manager Liam Rosenior confirmed the decision was precautionary.

“Cole has had a bit of tightness in his hamstring that he’s been carrying. He’s out for this game and we’ll see how he moves on for the FA Cup semi-final,” he said.

    Joao Pedro also unavailable

Joao Pedro, who has scored 19 goals this season, was also excluded after failing to recover from a thigh injury.

Rosenior ruled out taking any risks with the forward.

“No, not for this one. I think Joao will be good for Sunday, but this game is too close for him.”

    Tactical reshuffle for Chelsea

With both attackers unavailable, Chelsea have adjusted their setup, with Liam Delap leading the line.

The absence of Palmer in the number 10 role has also prompted a switch to a back three system.

    Key test amid European push

Chelsea’s injury concerns come at a crucial point in their campaign as they push for a strong league finish and prepare for an FA Cup semi-final.
