For ChevoBeatz, the silence was never about running out of ideas.

The Dutch producer, born Cheville Samoedj, stepped away from the constant rhythm of releases and promotion to focus on something far more important: Being present for his young son. Now, after taking that intentional pause, the ChevoProductions founder is returning to music with new collaborations and an expanded creative direction that reaches from reggae and Hip Hop to Afrobeats and Cabo Verde-inspired sounds.

“I got a son, he’s four now, and I had to be there for him, every time, to help him grow,” ChevoBeatz says of the quieter period. “Being a father comes first. That’s the priority before anything else, including the music.”

It is a straightforward explanation for an absence that did not go unnoticed. During the break, messages continued arriving from listeners and fellow artists wondering when the next single would drop and whether the producer known for blending reggae and dancehall with sounds from outside their traditional borders was still creating.

He was. He simply had different priorities.

Building Music Without Rushing the Process

ChevoBeatz has spent the past several years developing an approach that places collaboration and cultural exchange at the center of his work.

Through ChevoProductions, his Netherlands-based label, the producer has brought reggae, dancehall, Hip Hop and other musical influences into the same creative space while working to preserve the character of each.

That method also reflects a broader entrepreneurial mindset.

Outside music, ChevoBeatz operates ChevoMedia, a company specializing in web development, app design and other digital IT services. While the two businesses occupy different industries, both reflect an emphasis on building projects deliberately rather than simply pushing them into the marketplace.

His return to music appears to follow the same philosophy.

Instead of returning with a single familiar formula, ChevoBeatz is widening the musical territory around him.

Reggae Remains the Foundation

Reggae continues to sit at the center of his sound, but upcoming material will find the producer venturing further into Afrobeats and Cabo Verde-influenced music.

The shift is less a departure than an extension of what has already defined his catalog: identifying rhythms and influences from different parts of the world and finding ways to make them coexist naturally.

Featured performers attached to those projects have not yet been publicly revealed, although ChevoBeatz says listeners will recognize some of the names when announcements begin arriving.

One collaboration already taking shape reunites him with Jamaican deejay FyaVerse, an artist with whom ChevoBeatz has maintained a creative relationship since the pair met in Kingston in 2019.

Their upcoming project draws from old-school reggae and Hip Hop and will also introduce a UK artist ChevoBeatz recently discovered.

He is simultaneously building a connection with an artist from India, continuing a pattern of looking beyond expected music markets when seeking new collaborators.

A Proven Partnership With FyaVerse

ChevoBeatz and FyaVerse already have a history of records that have helped expand the Dutch producer’s reach within reggae and dancehall circles.

Their 2023 collaboration “Shatta Gyal” reached No. 1 on Jamaica’s Hype TV chart before entering the Billboard Argentina Hot 100 the following year.

“Time’s Dread” took the partnership in a more socially conscious direction, addressing corruption and police conduct. The track topped Jamaica’s Fiwi Choice Top 10 and earned a Best Reggae Act nomination at the HDP Music Awards.
