Tottenham Hotspur remain in the Premier League relegation zone after conceding a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The result is another setback for Spurs, who twice took the lead but failed to secure a win that could have lifted them out of the bottom three.

    Missed chance to climb table

Tottenham entered the match needing victory to move above West Ham United and Nottingham Forest, but defensive lapses proved costly.

Pedro Porro opened the scoring in the 39th minute, heading home from a cross by Xavi Simons.

Spurs nearly doubled their advantage moments later, but Simons struck the post before Porro was denied by Bart Verbruggen.

Brighton capitalised before halftime, with Kaoru Mitoma levelling the score with a volley.

    Late equaliser compounds frustration

Simons restored Tottenham’s lead in the 77th minute, finishing past Verbruggen to put the hosts back in front and temporarily lift them out of the drop zone.

However, the advantage did not last. Georginio Rutter scored late to secure a point for Brighton, leaving Spurs unable to close out the match.

The result leaves Tottenham still searching for a crucial win as the season approaches its final stages, with dropped points continuing to undermine their survival bid.
