A man has expressed frustration over the continuous rise in the prices of cooking gas and food items, saying the situation has become unbearable for ordinary citizens struggling to survive the current economic hardship.

The man shared his concerns in a viral video circulating on social media, where he complained about how prices reportedly change within hours.

According to him, he had earlier checked the price of cooking gas only to return later and discover that the cost had already increased again.

His comments have since resonated with many Nigerians facing similar challenges amid inflation and rising living expenses across the country.

Man complains over sudden gas price increase

Speaking in Pidgin English, the visibly frustrated man questioned why prices of essential commodities continue to rise almost daily despite public complaints from citizens.

No be yesterday I go market go complain of foodstuff? Na every minute things dey increase. Last three hours gas was N1450 per kg. I wan buy now dem say they just call them now say gas don increase to N1550. By tomorrow e fit don enter N1600.”

Nigerians react to worsening economic hardship

The man also criticized calls for citizens to remain silent despite the rising cost of living, insisting that many families are struggling to cope with basic needs.

And they say make we no shout, make we no talk,” he added.

The video has triggered reactions online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences about the increasing prices of cooking gas, transportation, and food items.

A similar outcry occurred in 2024 when citizens protested repeated hikes in fuel and household commodity prices following economic reforms.
