Blessing Fubara, the brother of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has declared his intention to run for governor under the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

Fubara made the declaration ahead of the party’s primary elections, where he vowed to serve only one term if elected into office.

He described himself as a ready, competent and energetic candidate, promising to restore peace, stability and economic prosperity in Rivers State if given the opportunity to lead.

Speaking during the declaration, Fubara said the political situation in Rivers State has deeply affected the people and cannot be ignored. He added that his ambition is aimed at helping restore the soul of the state and the country at large.

His declaration comes after his brother withdrew from the APC governorship primaries and pledged to support any candidate that emerges winner.

The NDC primary elections are expected to play a major role in shaping the party’s preparations ahead of the next governorship election in Rivers State.
