A man has sparked widespread conversation online after a viral video in which he expressed concern about the pressures and expectations surrounding life at age 30.

In the video, he reflected on how turning 30 often feels like a major milestone that quickly leads to thoughts about age 40 and beyond.

He also highlighted the emotional strain many people face while trying to meet societal expectations during their early thirties.

    Pressure of turning 30

He explained that many people begin to feel anxious once they reach 30, as expectations from society increase significantly.

He noted: “Once you are 30, you are closer to 40 years… 40 is not far, I will not lie to you.”

He added that individuals are often expected to have achieved financial stability, own property, drive cars, and run successful businesses by that age.

According to him: “People expect you to have a house, to have cars… to have business of your own.”

He noted that this pressure can feel overwhelming, especially for those still trying to figure out their career path or business direction.

He added that life plans do not always work out, even when proper planning is in place: “You can plan and not have money to fund that planning.”

    Marriage and career expectations

The man also spoke about the expectation for people in their 30s to be married and starting families.

He questioned how individuals can meet such expectations when they are still working towards financial independence.

He said: “At 30 years, you are still trying to figure out your life… How do you want to get married when you don’t have things going on for yourself?”

He added that women, in particular, often face pressure to marry between ages 30 and 33, with society sometimes judging their relationship status harshly.

He noted: “As a lady at 30, 31, 32, people want you to get married.”

    Mental health concerns

He further expressed concern about the emotional impact of these pressures, saying many people experience depression but suffer in silence.

According to him: “The depression that comes with age 30… is really scary.”

He concluded by admitting that he personally finds this phase overwhelming, as many people are still struggling to stabilise their lives while facing constant external pressure: “A lot of people are in depression because of this age 30 that they cannot say.”
