Alex Iwobi has described Victor Osimhen’s mindset as “sick” in a positive sense, highlighting the striker’s relentless drive to win at all costs.

The Fulham midfielder offered insight into his Super Eagles team-mate’s approach during an appearance on a podcast, pointing to an intensity that defines Osimhen’s game.

    Relentless drive sets Osimhen apart

Iwobi said Osimhen’s commitment is evident even in training, where the forward pushes himself to extremes.

“Cool, cool guy. Every time in training, he’s always getting hurt… he’s got to put his leg or his head into something that he shouldn’t do. He’s always been fighting,” he said.

He added: “Some would say he’s not polished, he’s a bit raw, but Victor will create himself five chances a game… just from hard work and running.”

Iwobi stressed that Osimhen’s approach does not change regardless of the opposition.

“He doesn’t care who you are… he will fight. He will treat the game in the Champions League as if he’s playing with his brethrens.”

    Osimhen’s ‘sick mentality’ drives success

According to Iwobi, the striker’s obsession with winning can sometimes push boundaries.

“He always wants to win, and that mentality is sick… sometimes it can be over the top.

“Then sometimes he cheats, and he knows he’s cheating just to win. But it’s just a sick mentality.”

Osimhen’s aggressive style has been a defining trait throughout his career, contributing to his rise as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards.

    Career built on resilience

After early development in Nigeria, Osimhen progressed through European football before establishing himself at Napoli, where he scored 76 goals in 133 appearances and helped secure a Serie A title.

He later moved to Galatasaray, maintaining his scoring consistency with over 50 goals for the club.

    Key figure for Nigeria

Both players remain central to the Nigeria national team, combining creativity and finishing in attack.

Osimhen has scored 35 goals in 52 international appearances, closing in on the national scoring record, while Iwobi continues to provide midfield stability.
