Kisha Kay has made history in Saint Lucia, becoming the first woman to win the island’s Groovy Soca Monarch title, marking a breakthrough moment for women in soca and a powerful milestone for Saint Lucian music.

Kay claimed the 2026 crown on July 10 at the SAB in Vigie, in Castries, earning 388 points with her performance of “Done” and edging her contender Deevon by just one point. The victory earned Kay the competition’s EC$40,000 first prize, worth approximately US$14,815.

For the soca monarch star, the title is the culmination of more than a decade of hard work and dedication to her craft, as this is her third attempt, which paid off. Since launching her professional career in 2014, she has steadily built a loyal following through music that celebrates Saint Lucian culture while showcasing her vibrant stage presence and lyrical authenticity.

"This victory is bigger than me…It belongs to every person who believed in me, prayed for me, encouraged me and stood beside me throughout this journey,” she said emotionally.

She first gained widespread recognition in 2018 with The People Man (TPM), a hit that became a carnival anthem and cemented her place among Saint Lucia's leading soca artists. Since then, she has shared the stage with some of the Caribbean's biggest performers while proudly representing her homeland throughout the region.

Kisha Kay credited her success to the team that helped bring her performances to life, including her producers, writers, musicians, engineers, choreographers, dancers, and management.

Beyond her music career, Kisha Kay has become a mentor to aspiring performers and a coach for students in school music competitions. She also encourages greater female participation in Junior Soca Monarch contests.

"This victory sends a powerful message that our young girls belong on every stage and in every competition," she said. "If my journey inspires even one young woman to believe in herself then this title carries an even greater purpose” she said.

Kisha Kay added that the Groovy Soca Monarch crown is not the end of her journey but the beginning of a new chapter. She remains committed to producing music that uplifts people, celebrates Saint Lucian culture, and represents the island with pride wherever she performs.

Her breakthrough year extends beyond this win. She has also been nominated for the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards in the Best New Soca Artist category, in recognition of her rapid rise in the regional music industry. The nomination honors emerging artists who have demonstrated exceptional growth, delivered standout performances and connected with audiences across the Caribbean and beyond, positioning them as the genre's next generation of stars.
