    About Ugwechi Amadi

Amadi boasts an impressive and highly accomplished career. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she earned dual bachelor’s degrees in neuroscience and literature, with a minor in biology. In recognition of her academic excellence, she was awarded the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship, which enabled her to pursue a PhD in clinical neurology at the University of Oxford. Her cross-disciplinary education provided a unique foundation for identifying patterns and navigating complex strategic challenges.

She began her working career in consulting at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). There she specialized in branding, digital analytics, and growth strategy for global clients across the retail, hospitality, and apparel sectors. Within her six years there, she rose to the role of principal.

In 2020, she joined Nike, working on their global communications strategy team alongside the Chief Communications Officer. Within less than a year, Nike promoted her to the Head of Enterprise Strategy. There she partnered with Nike’s executive leadership team to drive long-term strategy, before moving into the role of Vice President.

Before joining McDonald’s, Amadi also worked at LIV Golf for a year and a half. There she served as Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President, and Head of Strategy and Performance.

    What’s NEXT for McDonald’s?

McDonald’s NEXT is a global growth strategy unveiled by CEO Chris Kempczinski in June. Its goal is to remain its customers’ first choice, every time. The strategy is to elevate the taste and quality of its menu items and boost productivity across back-end operations. This is where Amadi comes in.

Amadi “will help bring our strategy to life across the business, spotting new opportunities and keeping our priorities grounded in what matters most to our customers, communities, and the brand,” Ian Borden, McDonald’s CFO, wrote on a LinkedIn post earlier this week.
