Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira has downplayed concerns over Ola Aina after the defender was forced off during their Europa League semi-final win against Aston Villa.

Aina went down shortly after Chris Wood scored the decisive goal, prompting medical attention before he was substituted for youngster Zach Abbott.

Pereira confirmed post-match that initial feedback from the player suggests the issue is not serious, easing fears of a potential setback at a crucial stage of the season.

“I said to him, I’m sorry but it’s impossible for you to be injured! He said he will be in the right condition, and I hope he will.”

The Nigeria international is expected to be available for Forest’s upcoming fixture, with the manager indicating confidence in his recovery timeline.

    Key player in Forest’s run-in

Aina has been a consistent presence since returning from a hamstring injury earlier in the campaign, making 15 consecutive starts in the Premier League.

His availability will be critical as Forest continue their push to secure safety, with the club still not mathematically clear of relegation.
