RB Leipzig managing director Marcel Schäfer has denied reports claiming the club has reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of highly-rated winger Yan Diomande, insisting negotiations are still ongoing.

Speculation over the 19-year-old’s future has intensified in recent days, with multiple reports suggesting the Bundesliga side had agreed to sell the Ivory Coast international in a deal reportedly worth up to €132 million.

However, Schäfer has rejected those claims, stating that no final agreement has been reached between the two clubs.

    Leipzig deny transfer is complete

Speaking to Sky Germany, the Leipzig chief criticised reports suggesting the deal had already been concluded, saying the situation has been misrepresented.

“It’s clear that some so-called transfer experts reported a few days ago that the deal was done or gave it the ‘here we go.’ That’s simply not the case,” Schäfer said.

The German club chief also stressed that discussions have not yet reached the stage where Leipzig are prepared to approve the transfer.

“We’re not at that stage yet.”

Diomande has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents after an impressive Bundesliga campaign in which he registered 12 goals and eight assists.

The teenager has been absent from Leipzig’s recent pre-season activities after reporting ill and did not travel with the squad for their training camp in Austria, further fuelling speculation over his future.

    Madrid remain interested

Despite Leipzig’s stance, Real Madrid are still expected to continue negotiations for the winger, who is understood to have already agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants.

Reports have claimed Madrid are prepared to invest heavily in the youngster, although the structure and overall value of the proposed deal remain under discussion.

The transfer could also face delays because of a legal dispute involving Diomande’s former and current representatives.

Real Madrid have already strengthened their squad significantly this summer, adding Bernardo Silva, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté and Marc Cucurella as the club continues its rebuilding process.

For now, however, Leipzig insist there is no completed agreement, with both clubs still working to bridge the gap before any transfer can be finalised.
