Chelsea hierarchy are reconsidering their stance on Liam Rosenior following their damaging 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Tuesday.

The loss extended Chelsea’s poor run to five consecutive Premier League defeats without scoring, their worst run in 114 years, and has triggered internal discussions over the manager’s position.

    Internal review underway

Sources indicate that while Rosenior had received both public and private backing from the club’s hierarchy last week, that support was not reiterated after the Brighton defeat.

Senior figures are now reviewing his position at the club’s training ground, with his future forming part of wider end-of-season planning.

A section of the squad is also understood to be unconvinced by the 41-year-old, who joined from Strasbourg just over three months ago on a long-term contract following the departure of Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea currently sit seventh in the table, five points adrift of the top five, leaving their hopes of Champions League qualification in jeopardy with four matches remaining.

    Pressure builds after fan backlash

Rosenior faced criticism from supporters during the defeat at the Amex Stadium and did little to deflect attention post-match, openly criticising his players.

He described the performance as “indefensible” and “unacceptable,” as frustration continues to grow around the club’s collapse in form.

The situation marks a shift from last week, when co-owner Behdad Eghbali publicly backed the manager, stating: “Of course, it’s a results business, but we think he can be successful long term.”

    Key fixtures ahead

Despite the uncertainty, Rosenior remains in charge ahead of Sunday’s crucial FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United at Wembley.
