Antonio Rudiger has reportedly agreed a new contract with Real Madrid, ending speculation surrounding his future at the club.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that the German defender has reached a verbal agreement with the Spanish giants over a new deal that will run until June 2027.

Rudiger’s previous contract had been due to expire at the end of next month, raising uncertainty over whether he would remain at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond this season.

    Injury problems limited Rudiger

The 33-year-old endured a difficult 2025-26 campaign after struggling with injuries and inconsistent form.

Rudiger made only 18 La Liga appearances throughout the season, falling short of the standards he previously established since arriving from Chelsea.

Despite the setbacks, Real Madrid have now moved to keep the experienced centre-back at the club for at least two more seasons.

The Germany international, who has earned 82 caps for his country, is expected to play a role in the club’s rebuilding process ahead of next season.

Mourinho return could shape new chapter

Reports have also linked Jose Mourinho with a return to Real Madrid, with suggestions that the Portuguese coach could help revive Rudiger’s form.

The defender was reportedly involved in tensions within the dressing room during the campaign, including disagreements involving Alvaro Arbeloa and teammate Alvaro Carreras.

However, those issues now appear to have been resolved as Rudiger prepares for a fresh chapter at the club.
