Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to bring Dave Malloy’s acclaimed stage musical ‘Octet’ to the big screen with a star-studded cast. Emmy Award winners Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tramell Tillman will star as Paula and Marvin, alongside Jonathan Groff as Henry, Rachel Zegler as Velma, Gaten Matarazzo as Toby, Amanda Seyfried as Jessica, Phillipa Soo as Karly, and Paul-Jordan Jansen as Ed.

The film will center on a group of eight people who meet in a church basement to confront their internet addiction by locking their phones in a box. As their digital dependency intensifies, they chart their compulsions using only the analog vibrancy of their own voices.

Malloy is writing the screenplay for the adaptation. Producers include Julie Oh (5000 Broadway Productions), John Skidmore (Best Kept Secret Productions), and Luis A. Miranda, Jr. (5000 Broadway Productions).

Executive producers include Malloy, Owen Panettieri, Johnny Holland, and Diana DiMenna. The film is financed and executive produced by Sander Jacobs, Caren Jacobs, TodayTix Group, Jeffrey Seller, Teresa Tsai, and John Gore for Broadway.com.
