STARLUX Airlines has unveiled its AIRSORAYAMA Airbus collaboration, a striking new project that merges aviation with contemporary art. Partnering with acclaimed artist Hajime Sorayama, known for his futuristic sexy robots, STARLUX has transformed two Airbus A350-1000 aircraft into physical masterpieces that reflect Sorayama's iconic hyper- aesthetic. To elevate the launch, STARLUX also partnered with Kōki, who stars as the image ambassador in the project's striking new campaign video. Together, these elements reflect the Taiwanese airline's forward-looking identity and its ongoing effort to reimagine the premium passenger experience. At the heart of the project is a groundbreaking development in aviation color science, achieved in partnership with Pantone and German premium coating specialist Mankiewicz the took three years to develop. To faithfully replicate Sorayama's signature liquid-metal aesthetic without compromising rigorous aviation safety and structural requirements, engineers created two bespoke, highly concentrated mica-based pigments: "AIRSORAYAMA Silver" and "AIRSORAYAMA Gold." Applied through a precision multi-layer coating process that took a team of 16 specialists 20 days to complete, the result is a dynamic, fluid finish that shifts in depth and tone depending on the light and viewing angle.Beyond the aircraft design, STARLUX has introduced a suite of exclusive branded items to enhance the passenger experience. These include Sorayama‑themed headrest covers, pillow covers, paper cups, and napkins, as well as specially designed boarding passes and name tags. Long‑haul passengers in economy and premium economy will receive amenity kits featuring the AIRSORAYAMA branding, while all travelers can enjoy the “Chrome Sky” signature cocktail, a gin‑based drink with pear, lychee, and lemon notes. Even the safety video has been reimagined, produced by Sauvage.TV with Sorayama’s iconic “Sexy Robot” aesthetic.Initially, the silver aircraft will operate flexibly across routes until September, before entering regular service alongside a gold‑painted aircraft from October 1, 2026. Scheduled routes include Taipei to Tokyo Narita, Taipei to Phoenix, and Taipei to Prague, marking the collaboration’s expansion into both regional and long‑haul travel.
