The Washington Commanders are set to sign free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a one-year deal worth up to $12 million, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter. The acquisition provides the franchise with a proven target opposite primary receiver Terry McLaurin.Diggs, who was born in suburban Washington and played collegiately at Maryland, had previously made his desire to play for the Commanders known. The 32-year-old enters his third team in three seasons after spent last year with the New England Patriots, where he caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns across 2025. According to research metrics, Diggs led all NFL wide receivers last season with an 82.5% reception percentage and ranked third in yards per route run at 2.77.The former 2020 first-team All-Pro selection arrives to bolster a position group that faced severe depth challenges in 2025 due to injuries to McLaurin and Noah Brown. Following his release from New England in March at the start of the 2026 league year, Diggs now pairs with McLaurin alongside a receiving group featuring rookie Antonio Williams, Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane, Treylon Burks, Van Jefferson, and Dyami Brown.
