In game 2 of the 2015 NLDS, a lineup drive up the middle created a double play chance for the New York Mets. Daniel Murphy fielded the ball and gave a short toss to Rubén Tejada. Chase Utley attempted to break up the double play, which would allow the runner on third to score, instead of ending the inning. But Tejada spun around to better position himself for a throw to first, a move Utley wasn’t expecting. A split second is all it took for this to become a national headline with Tejada suffering a broken leg on the play. He'd broken up double plays the same way hundreds of times and he expected Ruben Tejada to jump like almost every other shortstop he'd ever slid into. When Tejada spun instead, it was too late. Utley says he let up the moment he realized but the collision was already inevitable. The Full Chase Utley episode is live on the channel now!
