Inter Milan are closing in on the signing of England defender John Stones after reaching an agreement on personal terms with the centre-back following the end of his Manchester City contract.

The Serie A club is expected to complete the deal this week, with reports indicating that Stones will undergo medical examinations before putting pen to paper on a three-year contract that will keep him at the San Siro until June 2028.

The move marks a new chapter for the 32-year-old, who leaves Manchester City after a trophy-laden spell and now prepares for his first experience in Italian football.

Medical scheduled as deal nears completion

According to Football Italia, Stones is expected to undergo his medical on Thursday or Friday before signing a contract worth a reported net salary of €4 million per season.

The defender reportedly attracted interest from several clubs, including Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea, but opted to continue his career with Inter Milan.

Stones is expected to arrive in Italy on July 30 to complete the remaining formalities after enjoying his summer break following England’s participation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The transfer is expected to be finalized once the medical process is completed and all documentation is signed.

    Fresh challenge awaits in italy

The move will see Stones reunite with former Manchester City teammate Manuel Akanji, who is already part of Inter Milan’s squad.
