The Redmi Note 17 is here, and it puts battery life at the centre of everything. Xiaomi built this phone around a massive 8,000mAh battery and a big 7-inch AMOLED screen. It runs on an entry-level Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chip to help keep the price low.

Xiaomi skipped the Redmi Note 16 name entirely. The brand jumped from Note 15 straight to Note 17 to match the naming of its flagship Xiaomi 17 series.

    Redmi Note 17 release date

The Redmi Note 17 launched in China on July 14, 2026, where it immediately went on sale. India got the phone next on August 6, 2026, and sales started around August 12.

A global launch for Europe and other markets has not happened yet. Xiaomi has not confirmed a date for these regions as of mid-August 2026. Certification filings indicate a global version is coming, but a launch date is not yet official.

Here is one thing to note. Xiaomi also launched a phone called the “Redmi 17” for global markets in early August 2026. This is a different device with its own chip and battery, so don’t mix it up with the Redmi Note 17.

    Redmi Note 17 price

Here is what the Redmi Note 17 costs in the two markets where it has officially launched.

    1. China pricing

In China, the Redmi Note 17 starts at CNY 1,299 for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which is around $180. The 8GB plus 128GB version costs CNY 1,399, and the top 8GB plus 256GB version costs CNY 1,599.

    2. India pricing

    • 6GB + 128GB: ₹27,999
    • 8GB + 128GB: ₹30,999

Xiaomi is also offering bank discounts in India. You get up to ₹3,000 off with select credit cards, or ₹1,500 off with UPI payments.

    3. Global and Africa pricing

A European price of around €250 has leaked, but Xiaomi has not confirmed this yet. Treat it as a rumour until Xiaomi makes it official.

African markets are still waiting on an official Redmi Note 17 price. You may see listings in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa or Ghana, but many of these show the wrong specs entirely. If you’re checking prices, confirm the phone has an 8,000mAh battery and a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chip before you trust the listing.

What changed from the Redmi Note 15

The Redmi Note 17 brings some big upgrades, but it also cuts a few corners.

    • Battery: Jumped from 5,520mAh to 8,000mAh. That’s a 45% increase.
    • Display: Grew from 6.77 inches to 7 inches.
    • Chipset: This is a downgrade. The Note 15 used a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, while the Note 17 uses the weaker Snapdragon 4 Gen 4.
    • Camera: Also a downgrade. The Note 15 had a 108MP main camera, but the Note 17 drops to 50MP and lacks a secondary sensor.
    • Price: Went up too. The Note 15 started at ₹22,999 in India, and the Note 17 now starts at ₹27,999.

Where to buy the Redmi Note 17

In India, you can buy the Redmi Note 17 through Amazon India, the Xiaomi India online store, Mi Home stores, or other authorised retailers.

In China, it’s available through mi.com and Xiaomi retail stores.

If you’re in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa or Ghana, there’s no official Xiaomi sales channel for this phone yet. Any unit you find locally is likely imported, so confirm the exact specs before you buy.
