Situated in Chavarria's elevated telenovela was a highly versatile collection that sacrificed no facets of the designer's cross-cultural design aesthetic.Following Mon Laferte's opening act, the collection began with noticeably slim and moody tailoring backed by Lunay and Mahmood's numbers. The designer, who is widely known for his oversized style, instead began with straight and slim-fit trousers paired with proportionate blazers and coats—nothing like the candy-colored brocades he showed last season. Slowly but surely, the playful addition of plush leopard fabric, snake prints, and flashes of pink, cobalt, yellow, and red eased the austerity. Finally, as Feid and Latin Mafia closed the show, it took an elegant turn with minimal cocktail dresses, flowing drapery, and fine tailoring. The closing looks included impressive gowns reminiscent of the iconic couturiers, including one shimmering with gold embellishment at the front and trailed by a pink cape. As he is known for, Chavarria emerged in unison with the models at the end of his presentation wearing a statement tee reading "Protection is Love."Altogether, the show's delineation of Chavarria's versatile styles of expression highlighted the designer's ambitious vision. Chavarria refuses to sacrifice any part of his identity, whether it be his queerness, his Latinidad, or his California upbringing. It shows in the way that he openly celebrates honoring his identity and emotions through clothing. The designer's theatrical spectacle was not only one of the most energetic shows of this Paris Fashion Week, but also an impressive development of his evolving style.See the gallery above for a full look at Willy Chavarria FW26.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
