    A lady has stirred reactions online after revealing that she declined to contribute ₦20,000 for a friend’s wedding aso ebi after discovering the engagement news on TikTok instead of hearing it directly from the bride.

    Lady refuses to pay ₦20000 for aso ebi

    According to the woman, she only became aware of the upcoming August wedding after seeing it on social media.

    Despite not being informed personally, she said she congratulated the bride and held no grudges.

    However, matters changed when she received a message requesting ₦20,000 for aso ebi.

    She said she initially accepted the request until she discovered that the same payment details had also been sent to her aunt.

    Lady explains why she declined

    While sharing her experience online, the woman recounted how she felt excluded from the wedding preparations despite being expected to contribute financially.

    Speaking on the matter, she said:

    You did introduction, didn’t tell me, I saw it on TikTok, still said congrats. Wedding in August, you told everyone but me. I no vex. Then you sent “Aso ebi #20,000” to my WhatsApp. I said okay. Next thing, you sent it to my aunt + account details… I just laugh in isiZulu because I no go send you kobo. Congrats in advance my dear.”

    Her comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with social media users debating friendship expectations, wedding contributions and the culture surrounding aso ebi payments.
