A new school year brings new possibilities, and Dallas Independent School District is ready to welcome more than 140,000 students back to classrooms with a continued focus on academic excellence, innovation and student success.

As the countdown to the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 11, begins for traditional-calendar campuses, Dallas ISD is encouraging families to take advantage of the district’s comprehensive Back-to-School resources to ensure students are ready to learn from day one. Some Additional Days School Year (ADSY) campuses begin earlier under the district’s expanded academic calendar, providing even more opportunities for learning and enrichment.

Preparing for a new school year can feel overwhelming, but Dallas ISD has created a centralized Back-to-School hub that gives parents quick access to the information they need before students return to campus.

    Families can find:

    • Enrollment and registration information
    • School supply lists
    • Transportation resources
    • School calendars and campus hours
    • Technology support
    • Attendance zones
    • Dress code guidelines
    • Immunization requirements
    • Clear backpack policy
    • Campus safety information and Dallas ISD Police resources

Whether enrolling a student for the first time or returning for another year, Dallas ISD has streamlined many of the resources families rely on to make the transition into the school year as seamless as possible.

Dallas ISD continues to invest in opportunities that extend well beyond the classroom. From nationally recognized magnet schools and early college high schools to Career Institutes, P-TECH programs, fine arts, athletics and STEM education, students have access to pathways designed to prepare them for college, military service or high-demand careers after graduation.

The district also continues to see strong academic momentum, with recent state assessment results showing meaningful gains across multiple grade levels and subject areas, reinforcing Dallas ISD’s commitment to continuous improvement and student achievement.

Start the School Year at the Back-to-School Kickoff

Families who still need assistance before the school year begins are invited to attend Dallas ISD’s annual Back-to-School Kickoff on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ellis Davis Field House.

The event offers on-site enrollment assistance for students in Pre-K through 12th grade, along with free school supplies, approved clear backpacks and additional community resources while supplies last. Families should bring required enrollment documents, including a birth certificate for new students and a parent or guardian photo ID.

Dallas ISD’s mission extends beyond helping students earn good grades. Every campus is focused on creating safe, welcoming learning environments where students can develop academically, socially and emotionally. With hundreds of extracurricular opportunities, innovative instructional programs and dedicated educators serving neighborhoods across Dallas, the district continues to prepare students for success long after graduation.

As families prepare for another exciting school year, Dallas ISD remains committed to ensuring every child has the support, resources and opportunities needed to reach their full potential.
