Today, Paramount+ has announced that the second season of Diarra From Detroit will premiere July 29, with two episodes debuting on launch day. New installments will then arrive weekly through September 9. Alongside the announcement, the streamer also released a first look at the upcoming season of the acclaimed mystery-comedy.

Created by, written by, executive produced by, and starring Diarra Kilpatrick, the series returns with eight new episodes following the events of its breakout first season. This time, Diarra enters the summer hoping to focus on herself and enjoy life without getting tangled up in another investigation. Naturally, things do not go according to plan.

Season two begins with what appears to be a simple mission involving stolen furniture. Before long, Diarra finds herself caught up in a murder case, pursuing clues tied to local folklore, and navigating another dangerous mystery rooted in Detroit. Along the way, she juggles personal complications while venturing into unexpected territory, including undercover work connected to a secret organization and an appearance in a Tubi movie.

Kilpatrick returns alongside series regulars DomiNque Perry, Bryan Terrell Clark, and Jon Chaffin. Shannon Wallace, Phylicia Rashad, and Harry Lennix are also back for the new season. A number of notable guest stars will join the cast, including Method Man, Morris Chestnut, Glynn Turman, Bokeem Woodbine, Amber Riley, Lil Rel Howery, Lovie Simone, Shoniqua Shandai, Nicco Annan, Skilla Baby, Icewear Vezzo, Chris “CP” Powell, and Jude Demorest.

Produced by BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society, the series continues under the executive leadership of Kilpatrick, Kenya Barris, and showrunner Miles Orion Feldsott.

Following its debut, Diarra From Detroit quickly became one of television’s most talked-about new series. Critics praised its ability to blend suspense with humor while placing Detroit at the heart of the story. The show also earned recognition from the NAACP Image Awards and Independent Spirit Awards, while Kilpatrick took home a Gracie Award for her performance.

Season one is currently available to stream on Paramount+.
