We're on a short break the next two weeks, so we're revisiting one of our favorites: Cree Summer on losing (and finding again) her sex drive after 50, and why emotional safety made all the difference. New episodes of LOVERS are back August 19. In this clip, Cree talks about what menopause actually did to her (the opposite of what she expected) and traces her libido back to something bigger than hormones: what happens in a woman's body when her partner can't give her a sense that things are going to be okay. She talks about the conversation that has to happen before the conversation, the one with yourself, and tells a story about a tribe she learned of through Joseph Campbell's work, where women are ceremonially mourned and reborn after childbirth. It's a case for treating every real change in a body, or a marriage, as something that deserves to be marked, not just survived. This one is for anyone who's ever felt resentful of their own feelings and couldn't figure out why. This episode originally aired on April 30th, 2025. ________________________ Advertising & Other Inquiries: team@loversbyshan.com
