A Nigerian lady, Onovo Chika Sandra, has opened up on her failed marriage, revealing that she walked away after allegedly enduring years of interference from her now ex-mother-in-law.

Sandra said her seven-year marriage to an Enugu man became unbearable because, according to her, her husband consistently followed his mother’s instructions.

‘I Left Him to Marry His Mother’

In a Facebook post shared on Friday, August 14, 2026, Sandra revealed that she was previously married to an Enugu man and still bears his surname on some of her documents.

    She said:

“I was once married, yes I married an Enugu man, this name (ONOVO) attached to my name is his surname, I have tried to change that name in my documents but bank is stressing me. I believe one day I will succeed.”

Sandra explained that the marriage lasted seven years before she eventually decided to leave.

“He is from Enugu while I’m from Imo state, our marriage lasted for 7 years before I left him.”

    Woman Blames Mother-in-Law’s Influence

According to Sandra, her former husband was overly attached to his mother and allegedly did whatever she told him to do.

She described him as a “mummy’s boy” and said his behaviour contributed significantly to the problems she experienced during the marriage.

    She wrote:

“I left him cause he was a mummy’s boy, he does anything his mother asked. I suff3red in that marriage that I didn’t have a choice than to leave him to marry his mother. First born but behaving like mumu .”

‘Nobody Go Follow Me Do That Rubbish Again’

Reflecting on the experience, Sandra said she was younger and less emotionally mature when she entered the marriage.

She suggested that she would approach marriage differently if given another opportunity.

“Na because I still small then, nobody go follow me do that rubbish again now.”

Sandra also advised people to attain emotional and mental maturity before getting married.

She Promises to Share More Details

The woman said she had more to reveal about what allegedly happened during her marriage but was not yet emotionally ready to discuss everything publicly.

    She added:

“That’s why it’s good to be mentally and emotionally matured before going into marriage. Will put the details here when I’m emotionally ready to talk about it.”
