    Following its theatrical bow in Japan earlier this year, Mononoke the Movie: Chapter III – The Curse of the Serpent (also known as The Serpent God) will officially land on Netflix next month.Directed by chief director Kenji Nakamura and Tomoaki Koshida with animation produced by Studio Kafka and Twin Engine's EOTA, the film marks the grand finale to the feature film trilogy that began with 2024’s The Phantom in the Rain (Karakasa) and 2025’s The Ashes of Rage (Hinezumi). Centered inside the Ōoku - the inner sanctum of Edo Castle - the trilogy examines the internal struggles of noblewomen, with this third chapter shifting focus to the Midaidokoro (the highest-ranking woman in the inner palace) as a vengeful serpent god threatens the empire.The Curse of the Serpent will join its two preceding films on Netflix starting September 29, 2026, where it will be available to stream worldwide.
