A Nigerian lady has sparked debate online after calling out men who are quick to flirt whenever a woman expresses her emotions but suddenly go silent when she opens up about financial struggles.

Speaking in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she criticised what she described as the double standards of some men, questioning why they are eager to satisfy a woman’s emotional or sexual needs but unwilling to assist when she needs financial support.

    In her words, she said:

“There is something men do these days that pisses me off so badly. I tell you the weather is so cold and the next thing you say is, ‘Weather for two, I wish I was there to warm you.’ I tell you I feel emotional or horny, and you say, ‘I wish I was there.’”

The lady explained that the response changes completely once the conversation turns to money, saying men often end the discussion with sympathy instead of offering help.

She questioned why financial challenges are treated differently from emotional conversations, insisting that if men feel entitled to respond to one, they should show the same energy when a woman needs practical assistance.

“Then I tell you that I have a problem, that I’m low on cash and have so much to do, and you say, ‘Oh dear, so sorry. I hope things get better.’

“Why does my financial problem end with ‘sorry,’ but my emotional problems end with, ‘I wish I was there’? You wish you were here doing what?” she added.

Her remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, with many social media users sharing differing opinions on expectations in relationships and financial support.
