    The Governor of Osun State and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas in the governorship election held on Saturday.

    His closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won 11 local government areas, according to the results announced so far.

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to make the final declaration at the state collation centre in Osogbo, with the Returning Officer, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, expected to announce the final result.

    A total of 15 political parties contested the election, although the race was largely dominated by Adeleke’s Accord Party and the APC. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished a distant third with 14,989 votes.

    Breakdown of Results

    Based on the figures provided, Adeleke led in 19 LGAs, while Oyebamiji won 11 LGAs.

    Ede South — 26,188 to 6,219

    Ife North — 13,879 to 9,613

    Ilesa West — 16,196 to 12,756

    Ifedayo — 7,427 to 6,836

    Ife Central — 21,171 to 15,913

    Orolu — 12,352 to 10,622

    Osogbo — 36,480 to 30,474

    Oriade — 21,343 to 14,863

    Odo Otin — 18,003 to 15,435

    Ife East — 27,201 to 18,600

    Ifelodun — 21,107 to 18,396

    Iwo — 27,085 to 19,660

    Ede North — 35,427 to 10,283

    Ila — 16,211 to 12,934

    Ayedire — 11,073 to 9,910

    Egbedore — 19,278 to 11,194

    Ayedaade — 16,681 to 15,719
