The Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G is Tecno’s newest performance phone in the Pova line for 2026. It packs a bigger AMOLED screen, a faster chipset, and a camera upgrade over the standard Pova 8. The phone also carries Tecno’s Alive Matrix, a rear lighting system built from 177 LEDs that light up for calls, messages, and games. The regular Pova 8 has the same Alive Matrix feature, so the Pro’s biggest upgrades sit in its display, chipset, camera, and design.

Here is what you need to know about the release date, price, and full specs of the Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G.

Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G release date

Tecno unveiled the Pova 8 Pro 5G globally on July 22, 2026. The phone then launched in India on August 18, 2026, with sales set to begin on August 21 at 12 pm.

    Here is the release timeline:

    • July 22, 2026: Global unveiling, with full specs confirmed
    • August 18, 2026: Official India launch, with pricing confirmed
    • August 21, 2026: First sale in India

Tecno has not confirmed a launch date or local price for the Pova 8 Pro 5G in Nigeria, Kenya, or Ghana as of press time. Tecno’s country sites for these markets are active and still updated, but none currently list the Pova 8 Pro 5G. We will update this tracker with confirmed pricing and dates once the phone lands in these markets.

Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G price

India is the only market with confirmed pricing so far.

    • 8GB RAM + 256GB storage: ₹49,999 ($522.26) list price. Tecno is also running a launch offer that brings the effective price down to ₹46,999 ($490.92).
    • 12GB RAM + 512GB storage: ₹54,999 ($574.49)

Tecno has not announced official pricing for Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, the US, or the UK. Hold off on any naira, cedi, or shilling estimate until Tecno or an authorized retailer confirms local pricing, since Indian pricing includes taxes and promotions that don’t carry over to other markets.

Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G specs

    1. Design and display

Your Pova 8 Pro 5G comes with a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED display with a 2644 x 1208 resolution and 429ppi. The screen supports refresh rates up to 144Hz and reaches 700 nits in normal use, 1,600 nits at peak brightness (HBM), and an advertised 4,500 nits at maximum. Gorilla Glass 7i protects the screen.

The phone weighs 189g and measures 162.48 x 77.27 x 7.39mm. It comes in three colors: Arc White, Graphite Black, and Tundra Green.

Tecno’s Alive Matrix sits on the back of the phone. It uses 177 individually controlled Mini LEDs to light up for more than 49 scenarios, including calls, messages, file transfers, and games. A One-Tap programmable button on the side lets you trigger a shortcut with a double press.

Tecno also claims IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance under its Omni-Shield design.

    2. Performance and storage

The phone runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset, built on a 4nm process, with four Cortex-A78 cores at up to 2.6GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2.0GHz. It pairs with an Arm Mali-G615 MC2 GPU and Tecno’s own P1 graphics chip, which handles frame rate and graphics performance for gaming.

Global storage options include 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, and 12GB/512GB. So far, only the 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB versions are confirmed for the Indian market. Any “16GB” or “24GB” RAM figure you see in marketing includes extended virtual RAM pulled from storage, not physical RAM.

A 5,000mm² vapour chamber, part of Tecno’s 5K IceShield cooling system, helps manage heat during long gaming sessions.

    3. Battery and charging

The Pova 8 Pro 5G packs a 6,500mAh battery with 45W wired charging. Tecno says this gets you 30% charge in 14 minutes, 50% in 27 minutes, and a full charge in 60 minutes, based on its own lab tests.

The phone also supports 10W reverse-wired charging and bypass charging, which sends power more directly to the phone during heavy use, such as gaming or navigation.

    4. Camera

The rear camera setup consists of a 50MP main sensor with OIS (optical image stabilization), paired with an 8MP ultrawide lens. Tecno confirms the main sensor is a Sony LYTIA 700C with a 1/1.56-inch optical format. The front camera is 13MP.

Earlier reports citing a 108MP camera came from pre-launch speculation and don’t match the final, confirmed specs.

    5. Software and updates

The Pova 8 Pro 5G runs HiOS 16, based on Android 16. Tecno promises two generations of Android updates and three years of security patches.

    6. Connectivity and other features

    • 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC
    • GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo for navigation
    • USB-C port
    • Under-display fingerprint reader
    • Hardware gyroscope, e-compass, and proximity and ambient light sensors
    • Infrared remote control
    • Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio support

Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G vs Tecno Pova 8

The Pro is not just the standard Pova 8 with a lighting upgrade. Both phones have the Alive Matrix, so the difference comes down to the display, chipset, camera, fingerprint sensor, and battery.

If battery life matters most, the standard Pova 8 gives you 1,500mAh more capacity. If you want a sharper screen, a faster chipset, and a better camera, the Pro is the stronger pick.

    Bottom line

At ₹49,999 ($522.26) in India, the Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G brings a 144Hz AMOLED display, the Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset, a 50MP OIS camera, a 6,500mAh battery, and high dust and water-resistance ratings. Its “Pro” label leans more towards display quality, performance, and camera upgrades than on battery size, since the standard Pova 8 still holds the bigger battery.
