Multiplatinum Hip Hop icon Too $hort released his highly anticipated album, “Sir Too $hort, Vol. 2 – Drink & Smoke,” on July 31 through EMPIRE.

The latest chapter in the Oakland, California, native’s “Sir Too $hort” series celebrates the music, personalities, and cultural influence that have helped define West Coast Hip Hop across generations.

The project brings together an expansive lineup of collaborators, including Lil Jon, E-40, Tyga, Saweetie, Snow Tha Product, Suga Free, Decadez, Show Banga, UC Kayla and King George.

Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube also appear alongside Too $hort and E-40 through the West Coast supergroup Mount Westmore.

‘Out Tonight’ Leads the Release

The album’s focus track, “Out Tonight,” features singer and songwriter King George. The song centers on the anticipation of spending a memorable night on the town with a special woman.

The collaboration offers another example of Too $hort’s ability to move comfortably between generations and regional sounds without abandoning the charisma and conversational delivery that have defined his career.

Reuniting With Lil Jon

“Sir Too $hort, Vol. 2 – Drink & Smoke” also marks another significant collaboration between Too $hort and Lil Jon, who served as a producer on the project alongside his late son, DJ Young Slade.

Lil Jon appears on several tracks, including “Better Pimp,” “Back It Up,” “Thicky” and “Wouldn’t Wanna Be Him.”

The reunion brings together two longtime collaborators whose chemistry helped produce era-defining records such as “Blow the Whistle” and “Shake That Monkey.”

Their latest work continues that musical relationship while introducing their unmistakable energy to another generation of Hip Hop listeners.

Celebrating an Enduring Sound

“Drink & Smoke,” featuring E-40 and Tyga, provided the first preview of the album. The song delivered the confident, unmistakable West Coast sound that fans have come to expect from Too $hort.

The single arrived during the 20th anniversary year of “Blow the Whistle,” Too $hort’s highest-selling single to date.

While the anniversary offered an opportunity to celebrate his influence, the new album shows that Too $hort remains focused on creating rather than simply revisiting past accomplishments.

At 60, the pioneering rapper continues to challenge expectations about longevity in Hip Hop. He remains one of the relatively few artists from the genre’s formative decades who continues to release new music, collaborate with contemporary performers and expand an already extensive catalog.

From ‘Freaky Tales’ to ‘Drink & Smoke’

The new album follows 2025’s “Sir Too $hort, Vol. 1 – Freaky Tales,” which marked Too $hort’s first studio album in five years.

That project featured appearances from Snoop Dogg, Larry June, Jazze Pha and other guests.

Its release coincided with Lionsgate’s “Freaky Tales,” for which Too $hort served as an executive producer and narrator. Named after his influential 1987 song, the film paid tribute to Oakland and its distinctive culture.

The movie featured an ensemble cast that included Pedro Pascal, Tom Hanks, Jay Ellis, Normani, Dominique Thorne, Angus Cloud and Ben Mendelsohn.

With “Sir Too $hort, Vol. 2 – Drink & Smoke,” Too $hort continues that celebration of Oakland and West Coast culture while proving that an artist’s legacy can remain firmly connected to the present.
