A man has narrated what allegedly happened during the protest led by social media activist VeryDarkMan in Oyo State over the abduction of pupils and a teacher from Oriire.

According to him, the protest started peacefully as demonstrators marched to the Oyo State Government House to meet Governor Seyi Makinde and demand urgent action for the rescue of the kidnapped victims.

    Recounting the incident, he said:

“I witnessed what I’ve never witnessed in my life. What I saw today, I will tell my children and grandchildren. We joined the protest, and everything was peaceful. We went to the governor’s house, and the governor spoke to us.”

However, he claimed that while protesters were leaving the area, panic suddenly broke out after some people allegedly began shouting that armed men were approaching.

He said many protesters fled the scene as individuals carrying cutlasses, sticks, and bottles allegedly appeared and caused chaos.

“People started shouting, ‘They are coming with cutlasses!’ People started running, and I ran too. But the craziest part was that VDM did not run. He faced them and charged back at them. When protesters saw VDM and Kokopee charging back, they also turned back, and the thugs fled the scene,” he added.

The account has sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians praising the courage displayed by the protesters, while others questioned who allegedly sponsored the attackers.

The incident comes amid growing public concern over the abduction of pupils and a teacher in Oyo State, with citizens continuing to demand swift action from authorities to secure the victims’ release.
