Brompton Unveils the 'Electric T Line,' Its Lightest-Ever Folding E-Bike

Brompton has unveiled the next generation of its Brompton Electric range and launched its lightest-ever folding e-bike – the "Electric T Line."The all-new Electric T Line features a lightweight and super durable titanium frame, marking the first time the British brand has electrified its titanium line, and weighs just 31 lbs including its battery (or around 24 lbs without) – for context, this puts it closer to the weight of a standard commuter bike than most electric models, while still offering motorised support for daily city riding.Hand-built in London, the new range is powered by the brand’s proprietary e-Motiq system and is designed to make electric riding feel lighter, smarter and more intuitive – and, for first time electric riders, like a natural evolution from pedal-powered cycling. Alongside the newly announced Electric T Line, Brompton is also bringing the e-Motiq system to its C Line and P Line models, boosted by strong uptake of the larger-wheeled G Line Electric released last year.At its core, the e-Motiq system is built around a rear hub motor, torque sensor and detachable battery that work together to amplify a rider’s pedalling rather than replace it. The idea is that the harder you pedal, the more support you get – so while hills, headwinds and stop-start traffic will feel noticeably easier, the physical ride experience is retained while using the bike. The Electric T Line features a 250-watt rear-hub motor and a detachable 345Wh battery, which offers up to 90 kilometers of range (approx. 56 miles) on a full charge. It also introduces a couple of new modes: Start Assist, which provides a power boost when pulling away at junctions, as well as Walk Assist, which supplies the bike with just enough power to move at up to 3.7 mph while being pushing it on foot – a feature that could come in useful while walking up steep hills, for example. It also features a new handlebar-mounted control that displays real-time ride data and integrates with the Brompton Electric App (available for both iOS and Android) and can track range, adapt assistance levels over time, and delivers over-the-air updates. Interestingly, after the first 100 kilometers of riding, the system begins tailoring predictions to individual riding habits, giving a more accurate read on battery life day to day.Despite the added tech, Brompton's latest bike hasn’t sacrificed what the brand is best known for: portability. The Electric T Line – as with all of the brands electric range – still folds in under 20 seconds, transforming into a compact package designed for mixed-mode commuting and small-space living. The Brompton Electric T Line is available now in the UK via the brand's website starting at £5,799 GBP. It launches in the US on January 27 – stay tuned to Hypebeast for release updates.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
