Last weekend, skateboarders, artists, and designers from across Los Angeles showed up and out for Turtle Beach Club. Staged at the iconic Dream Hollywood, the event was an immersive celebration of gaming, fashion, and music, and we posted up poolside with Evan Mock to capture all the action. Before making their way up to the “Beach,” we were greeted by a sleek vintage convertible, complete with a Pacific Skyline Controller hanging from the rearview mirror — just a taste of the energy that awaited. Moving up to the rooftop, the scene took life: dreamy pink and purple hues soaked the space, as games unfolded beneath the stars. To celebrate the launch of the Pacific Skyline Controller, Turtle Beach pulled out all the stops, so it was only fitting that the brand tapped into its coastal roots for its latest offering: a controller inspired by the San Diego skyline, soaked in pastel hues and palm tree motifs.Notably, guests got to check out the new gear. The hotel’s cabanas made for the perfect, intimate gaming pods. Mock, alongside Eunice Chang, Kevin Bradley, and stylist Toreno Winn tried their hand at Backrooms, donning matching pastel headsets, and as the sun went down, a San Diego RGB skyline lit up across the controller.A massive screen anchored the event’s main space, flanked by piles of retro TVs for complete vaporwave effect. Bites and drinks floated through the space, and guests danced to sounds by DJ sosupersam. Stepping away from the traditional, hyper-tactile aesthetic that gaming typically brings to mind, Turtle Beach opted for a softer, laid-back feel, putting connection at the forefront. If this is a sign of where gaming culture is headed, the future is bright. A perfect storm of style, sport, community, and culture, Turtle Beach is entering its new lifestyle era on a high, because a trip to the Beach, after all, is about the friends you make along the way.
